Ömer Tevfik Erten namı-ı diğer ÖTE (d.1990, Mardin), güvenli alan, queer hafıza, azınlıklar, aktivizm ve otonomi kavramları üzerine çalışan fotoğraf sanatçısı, yönetmen ve küratördür. Erten, sanatın temel hak ve özgürlükleri kazanmada farkındalık adına önemli bir araç olduğuna inanır, sanatın ve sanatçının imkanını sorgular, harekete geçer. Ömer Tevfik(IG:ote_omertevfikerten) Covid-19 salgını sırasında işini ve projesini kaybeden Türkiyeli ve Hollandalı queer sanatçı, aktivist ve gece hayatı çalışanlarını çevrimiçi bir platformda bir araya getirmeyi hedefleyen dayanışma ve işbirliği ağı projesi Through The Window Project’in (IG:throughthewindow_project) eş küratörüdür. 2013-2017 yılları arasında tamamladığı ‘Geziden OHAL’e Türkiye’de Trans Kimlikler’ isimli fotoğraf projesi, trans varoluşların barınma sorunu, nefret cinayetleri, güvencesizliğe karşı geliştirdikleri direnç pratikleri araştıran; çekimleri Ankara, Mersin ve İstanbul'da gerçekleşmiş olan belgesel fotoğraf projesidir. Projenin çıktıları arasında trans*evi sergisi (2014), Burçak fotoğraf sergisi (2017), sosyal farkındalık projesi Misafir*Hane (2019), Ben Yaşadıkça Sen Çıldır (2021) photozine yer alıyor. Sosyal farkındalık projesi ‘Misafir*Hane’ (IG:@transguesthouse) ile Türkiye’nin ilk trans misafirhanesinin Ömer Tevfik Erten tarafından çekilen fotoğrafları, 2019 yılında bir fotoğraf kitabına ve kısa belgesel filme dönüşmüştür. Proje, Hollanda İstanbul Başkonsolosluğu tarafından desteklenmiştir. İstanbul'da yaşayan ve çalışan sanatçı, şimdilerde yeni film projesi için çalışıyor ve Through The Window projesini kürate ediyor.

Ömer Tevfik Erten aka ÖTE (b.1990, Mardin) is a photographer, director and curator working on the concepts of safe space, queer memory, minorities, activism and autonomy. Erten believes that art is an important tool for awareness in gaining fundamental rights and freedoms, questions the possibilities of art and the artist, and takes action.Ömer Tevfik (IG:ote_omertevfikerten) is the co-curator of Through The Window Project (IG:throughthewindow_project), which is a solidarity and cooperation network project and aims to bring together Turkish and Dutch queer artists, activists and nightlife workers who lost their jobs and projects during the Covid-19 pandemic. Erten lives and works in Istanbul and they are currently working on their new film project 'Shadow of the Circle' and curating the Through The Window project. The photography project titled “Trans Identities in Turkey From Gezi to State of Emergency”, which he completed between 2013 and 2017, explores the housing problem of trans existences, activism, murders, and practices of resistance developed against precarity; It is a documentary photography project that took place in Ankara, Mersin and Istanbul. Among the outputs of the project are the trans*house exhibition (2014), Burçak photography exhibition (2017), social awareness project Guest*House (2019), As I Live, You Go Crazy (2021) photozine. The social awareness project 'Guest*House' (IG:@transguesthouse) and the photographs of Turkey's first trans guesthouse, taken by Ömer Tevfik Erten, were turned into a photo book and a short documentary film in 2019. The project was supported by the Dutch Consulate General in Istanbul. The artist, who lives and works in Istanbul, is currently working on their new film project and curating the Through The Window project
